The best city view

One of the most popular cocktails is the ‘Hangovertini’. A concoction of green tea liquor, red martini, apple juice, rosemary and honey, the cocktail is named after the movie ‘The Hangover Part II’, which was partially set on the rooftop of the luxurious Lebua Hotel. The Sky Bar, on the 63rd floor of the Lebua State Tower, offers a spectacular panoramic view of the entire Thai capital. This is one of the most popular rooftop bars in Bangkok, just a 10-minute walk from the Saphan Taksin BTS station. Although the bar is usually packed and you may not be able to find a seat right away, enjoy the atmosphere, the brightly lit bar and the eye-catching golden dome while you wait.

Spectacular sunset

When searching for a trendy bar, it is easy to overlook the Banyan Tree Hotel and its rooftop restaurant Vertigo and Bar Moon. Located on the long Sathon Road lined with shiny silver and glass skyscrapers, the Banyan Tree Hotel has an old-fashioned look. But both the restaurant and bar are as trendy as they come! The rooftop terrace lacks any high fences so you enjoy unimpeded views of the city. Come for a drink early in the evening to watch the spectacular sunset. Restaurant Vertigo is appropriately named and not recommended for those who suffer from a fear of heights.

Well-hidden bar

The rooftop bars in Bangkok are not just any old bars. They often boast a unique location and very swanky surroundings. As a rule of thumb, the higher the building, the higher the prices. Cloud 47 on the 47th floor of the United Centre office complex seems to be a pleasant exception to the rule with a laidback ambiance and low prices. The entrance is a bit hard to find: look up on Silom Road to find the red letters that say ‘United Centre’, then go to the rear of the building.
